Happy Labor Day

Happy Friday, and hopefully it’s a happy start to your Labor Day weekend (at least for those of you in the U.S.!

Here’s a quote from the U.S. Department of Labor website about the history of Labor Day:“Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.”

With that quote, let’s simply take a moment here to concentrate on your many contributions to your life, well-being and prosperity. 

I understand that day-to-day life doesn’t always feel good and prosperous. However, given the plight of so many others around the world -- if you have your health, some food, and a dry, warm, stable place to rest your head -- you’re doing much better than many others.

I’m not trying to bring down your long weekend before it starts, but it’s important to remain humble about, and grateful for, the many things most of us, myself included, often take for granted.

Even when life seems dark -- no visible light at the end of the tunnel -- know that it’s temporary. Light is perseverant. Light radiates outward. Light cannot be contained. Light has a manifest destiny, and as a result light gives us hope. Hope is motivation to keep going towards positivity.  The light leads to love. Love always wins.
