Seize Your Inspiration

Do you enjoy learning all you can about new subjects that spark your imagination? It's that feeling of inspiration striking. A wave of boundless energy for the particular subject/project you're pouring passion into. That sort of inspiration doesn't always present itself easily, but when it does, I've found, only good things come if you embrace it.In doing so, you are seizing the moment, an alignment of your current state of being, interest and thoughts coupled with a subject or project that has something to teach you and perhaps others as a vehicle for your expression. Because those moments are fleeting, I believe it is important to seize the day.Lately I've been dabbling as an amateur luthier (a guitar maker/fixer).My wife recently found an acoustic, half-scale nylon string guitar at a garage sale for $1. The neck of the guitar was pulling up and away from the body likely from lack of use and the tug of the string tension over time...and possibly it being stored in a damp place. Also, it was missing a string and one of the guitar's tuning pegs was broken, so you couldn't fully tune it even if you wanted to.I've always had an interest in building guitars. I find functional art fascinating. So in a weekend I learned how stream the neck to remove it from the body of the guitar and reset the neck to make it straight and playable.I ordered a new set of tuning pegs online and added those when they arrived.I then put a new set of strings on it and now it's a beautifully rustic, nice sounding little half-scale guitar, which was less than $20 to fix. Now, I'm trying my hand at making a classic blues box, or 3-stringed cigar box guitar, from scratch. How are you currently seizing your inspiration? Hit reply and let me know.Have a great rest of your week!Sincerely,Nick Venturella NickVenturella.comNickVmusic.net also MadVinyl.com (cover band)GrowLoop.comAutismHR.com
