Are you driven to make lemonade out of whatever lemons are handed to you?I like underdog stories. In fact, I think that’s what I like about being an artist and even being in business – you often have limited resources and unless you’re innovative you’re not going to succeed with the resources you have.No one owes you anything.You’re not entitled to anything.However, if you can still make lemonade out of the lemons you’re given, it can be – a humbling experience for sure but also – extremely satisfying and fulfilling.Are you passionate about defying expectations?  I am too.When met with challenges – especially in business and art – I like to ask, “why not?”As in “Why can’t I create this?” or, “Why can’t someone do this?” or “Who says ‘X’ isn’t possible?”Having an action-oriented growth mindset toward finding solutions is self-motivation that, unfortunately, seems rare these days.…and that’s why such a mindset is your advantage.Staying hungry to achieve great things despite limited resources will help you…

  • bring your boss solutions, instead of more problems to solve

  • be more creative in your art-making, instead of stale, cliché, and redundant

  • be more innovative as an entrepreneur, instead of following what the competition does, lacking differentiation and eventually market share

Know your limits.Know your capabilities.Under promise and over deliver.Be solution- and action-oriented.Stay positive, and keep that unending-never-give-up-underdog motivation.
