Busy Being Busy and Happy Father's Day

June is an extremely busy month for my family. So far it entails birthdays, graduations, retirements and anniversaries, and of course many of these things are in different geographic locations which requires travel.I am not complaining, but certainly am glad it's contained to one month because I don't know that I can keep up this pace. That said, I was busy in St. Louis, Missouri celebrating my grandmother's 90th birthday last week, which is why I did not write a newsletter last week.Today, I want to congratulate all the fathers and fathers to be for Father's Day. I hope you had a wonderful day.Speaking of being busy, it's hard to constantly prioritize every direction you need to move in as each direction seems to be vying for your time and pulling you in a different way. There is guilt in doing one thing over another for all sorts of reasons. If you're anything like me, you're likely questioning whether or not the time you spend in any one direction is the right way to spend that time. However, I try to assure myself that if the intent is for positive reasons then not spending the time doing those things could very well be detrimental to myself and those I care about for a whole variety of reasons. In that respect, it often feels like a catch 22, so what can you do?Communication is one big part of the solution. Communicate with those involved in, or affected by the things you have to do.Help people understand why you do the things you do and what the positive intent is in doing those things. By helping others to understand why certain activities, events and responsibilities are important to you, how they affect you, and those you care about, you're educating others to give them insight into your values and boundaries. You constantly need to dig a deep well of love and aspiration to be positive and a better version of yourself every single day. Especially when you're time and energy are in demand on many different fronts. In other words, it's important that you are giving 100% to whatever your focus has to be at the moment. Doing so is what your sons and daughters will remember of you, it's what those colleagues and coworkers will remember of you, it's what you will feel proud of as you look back at your life. It's a way to live your life without regrets. This is far easier said than done. Every single day is an adventure. Every day is a battle. Every day is a victory. Staying positive through it all and being a source of hope for yourself and others around you can help you and those you care about push through all the peaks and valleys of life.
