Passionate Motivation

Happy Memorial Day weekend.

Are you pursuing, to the fullest extent you’re able to, what your passionate about?

I realize you may have various responsibilities and obligations, but beyond that are you making enough time to indulge yourself in a positive, constructive passion project or pursuit?

Why is this important?

In a word: motivation

My own experience has been that if you can find something constructive (that doesn’t hurt yourself or anyone else) that you’re interested in and excited to spend time on — even if it’s challenging — the positive feeling of indulging in something that energizes you can have a spill-over effect into other areas of your life. Even areas that seem boring, mundane, or obligatory.

Why is this important? You guessed right, motivation.

If you’re putting in effort to pursue something you’re interested in, and have that to look forward to — even in those times when you are required to do things that are less interesting or draining — the energized feeling that results from simply thinking about the activity or subject matter that you’re passionate about can help positively motivate you to endure those tasks that aren’t as fun with the knowledge that in the near future you can work on your passion again.

Working on your energizing interests and even the anticipation of getting to work on those interests acts as a positive reward for yourself to help motivate you through less-than-fun tasks.

The hope of reaching the peak can motivate you to endure the valley.

Plus, if you can eek out a way to double down on what energizes you not only does your motivation increase but your confidence and bias towards positivity will increase. Couple that with regular reflection and gratitude, and you can hardwire your brain into a positive growth mindset. (This is my own approach to art and music).

A growth mindset can endure just about anything.

"Midwest Heartache" book image----------In other music news......my partner in crime and one half of the musical duo,Gemini's Rival, Dan Lezama and I are working on re-booting/re-recording some of our late '90's early 2000's tunes and perhaps a few new ones. This is such a fun project for us. After 20+ years from Gemini's Rival's hey-day, the fire and passion and goofy energy we share is still there. Stay tuned as we will finally be in the same city this summer to do some recording together.----------
