Keep focus

This week started out as a slow struggle for me for some reason, but has turned into quite a productive week.What happened? How did things turn around?

Let’s dive in, maybe something I did can work for you too.

Early in the week I was feeling less than motivated to get my ever-growing to-do list for the week completed. I think I was a bit stressed out because I had a presentation mid-week that I didn’t feel especially well prepared for.

On Tuesday, I finally took a deep breath, stepped back from everything, cleared my head and returned to my work to re-evaluate.

I began to whittle down my week’s to-do list into small daily “need-to-do” priorities. Instead of getting extremely overwhelmed with what I thought I needed to complete by the end of the week, I started looking at what I actually needed to accomplish at a minimum each day to achieve my goal for the week.

Once I prioritized only what I absolutely needed to accomplish today, tomorrow, etc., I made sure to only focus on those priority tasks.

This exercise helped me to feel more focused on what absolutely needed to get done each day, which allowed me to avoid miscellaneous work that was just a distraction not helping me reach my weekly goal.

Doing this definitely helped reduce my feeling of overwhelm. I made progress and I ultimately accomplished what I needed to for the week.
