Be True to You

I get frustrated when I realize that I want to focus my attention on multiple creative disciplines. Mainly, because I tend to always have a sense that I'm supposed to only concentrate on one creative avenue and career path, but in my heart of hearts I don’t truly believe that’s for me.
I think from an early age our society sends that kind of message out into the world. It's reinforced by the education system and even our parents. Not that concentrating on one endeavor or career pursuit is bad. However, it's not the only way.
Though when you're in the minority of pursuing multiple avenues that combined collectively make up your career and life's work, you start to question if you should only pursue one thing...sometimes that seems like it would be an easier road.
There are many fits and starts happen as a result of bouncing around between a set of a few varied interests, and, for me, that can make me feel inconsistent.
I worry that some of my audience is interested in what I do only as a musician, while others only want my entrepreneurial marketing advice. I don't ever want to disappoint any of my audience by potentially alienating them because at times I talk about another interest of mine that they're not interested in.
Do you ever feel this way?
However, I remind myself that I make it clear on my websites that I am involved in various interests and that’s in part what people sign up for from me.
After years of battling myself and my varied interests, I’ve begun to find comfort in embracing all my interests, and I plan to do so.
