Momentum

When you have some positive forward progress with your endeavors, employment, or life initiatives you often want to continue that forward progress.

It's usually easier to affect your positive forward progress when you're already moving in that direction.

That's momentum.

Momentum is a useful thing.

Like riding a bike. When you first start out to ride pedaling is hard just to get the bike initially moving, but once the bike is moving the pedaling necessary to keep the bike in motion is easier than when you first got started.

It's helpful to fuel your own momentum, even if you don't think you have any right now.

Here's a quick activity you can do...

Think of 1 or 2 small victories you had this past week.  Maybe you had lunch with a key contact/mentor, maybe your boss recognized you for the great job you did on a recent project, or maybe you finally  replied to a particular email that you were a bit late responding to.

It doesn't matter exactly what you reflect on as long as it was positive and made you feel good, proud or happy knowing that it contributed, even in a small way, to the things you want or need to accomplish from day to day.

So take your 1 or 2 accomplishments from this past week and ask yourself, "How can I build off of that accomplishment to ensure I accomplish a few more things in the upcoming week?"

Then write down 1 or 2 things you can do this week to maintain momentum.  It's a series of regular small victories that will get you winning the larger game you want to win over time.

Hit reply and tell me about the momentum you're creating for yourself.
