Organize Your Mental Space

There is research and lots of social proof from the masses that swear by the practice of Swedish Death Cleaning as a great way to not only shed “things,” but organize one’s mental space. 

The idea behind Swedish Death Cleaning is that you go through and get rid of things in your life as if you died and your loved ones would have to go through your belongings, but you’re doing this act instead of your loved ones while still alive, now.

There is an interesting transformation that takes place once you begin this process and successfully “clean” a room in your “home.”  You feel lighter, liberated, simplified and more clear-headed.

De-cluttering your physical space – getting rid of things you no longer need and clearly identifying those fewer things you want to keep, and why – does wonders for lowering your stress and anxiety. 

When your stress and anxiety are more in check (at least at levels you can manage reasonably well) you operate in your day-to-day with more confidence and positive conviction.

This is a great time of the year to begin some Swedish Death Cleaning – January has just finished, we allowed ourselves some space from the previous December holiday season to get into a new year, and now it’s time to clean up and lean up your brain capacity to handle the rest of this year.
