Combat December Overwhelm
December is here!
It’s really easy to get overwhelmed by what appears to need getting done in a short time frame between now and the end of this month. However, keep in mind that what actually HAS TO get done by the end of this month is a far shorter list than what we think NEEDS TO be done.
I’m not looking to add to your December busyness, so I’ll keep this brief:
Don’t get overwhelmed. Take a few deep breaths.
Set a timer for 30 minutes.
Spend 5 to 10 minutes making a list of just about everything you think needs to get done this month.
Spend the next 5 to 10 minutes circling only those things that you know are absolutely required to be done by month’s end (like paying your mortgage on time vs. getting Christmas cards out to everyone who sent one to you).
Spend the last bit of your 30 minutes identifying when you can ideally get those circled items done (set deadlines) across the next few weeks and plot them on the calendar.
Keep the rest of that list handy because each week as you get those circled items completed and crossed off your list you might find that you have time to add some of the other non-circled items to your to-do list. Pick a few to sprinkle into your week. You might be surprised by your productivity and how much more you end up getting done with this approach.
