5 minutes
I’m buried in a list of To-Do’s right now. How about you?
It’s always a busy time of year. I’m trying to “eat my own dog food” here when I reflect on how to approach completing all of the things currently on my plate...I’m remembering two things that might be worth re-sharing with you to help your To-Do List efforts…
Identify THE one thing that has to get done today, and if that’s the only thing you get done today, you’ve still made appropriate progress towards your goal / objective / deadline. Make that your first priority. Try to get it done as early in the day as possible.
After completing THE-one-thing-that-has-to-be-done-that-day task, prioritize what the next one thing you need to complete might be and use the 5 minute rule*.
*The 5 minute rule states that you plan to address a task that needs your attention for only 5 minutes. Simply by starting the task you inevitably will spend more than 5 minutes working on it. That’s a good thing when you’ve been procrastinating.
All right, I hope that helps you to productively “clean your plate.” Until next time, be well and don’t stress.
