5 minutes

I’m buried in a list of To-Do’s right now. How about you?

It’s always a busy time of year. I’m trying to “eat my own dog food” here when I reflect on how to approach completing all of the things currently on my plate...I’m remembering two things that might be worth re-sharing with you to help your To-Do List efforts

  1. Identify THE one thing that has to get done today, and if that’s the only thing you get done today, you’ve still made appropriate progress towards your goal / objective / deadline. Make that your first priority. Try to get it done as early in the day as possible.

  2. After completing THE-one-thing-that-has-to-be-done-that-day task, prioritize what the next one thing you need to complete might be and use the 5 minute rule*.

*The 5 minute rule states that you plan to address a task that needs your attention for only 5 minutes. Simply by starting the task you inevitably will spend more than 5 minutes working on it. That’s a good thing when you’ve been procrastinating.

All right, I hope that helps you to productively “clean your plate.” Until next time, be well and don’t stress.
