Where is your compass pointing?
Hi ,what do you value and how is it that what you pursue helps you maintain and/or achieve those values?Earlier this week I was listing out things I value in my life like, time with my family, space and time for reflective thought and feeling like I have a sense of purpose in my life by helping others. Then I thought about the goals I'm trying to achieve within my career and life like, pursuing work that energizes me, a high level of autonomy and meaningful work. Here's a thought I had that might be useful to you:The values are positioned at true North on my life compass. The goals and their results are the journey North. You can potentially reach North, but more realistically you're always striving for North. You're likely to come as close as is humanly possible to it, but you may never truly reach North, and that's okay. Simply recognizing the need to move North is a victory. Each step North is another victory that motivates you to take another step and another.By keeping focused on North you can simplify what you need for your journey, discarding preconceived notions and noise that distracts you from your focus or that which slows you down. This journey is in the spirit of hope and positive energy so it's worth noting that smiting others, being negative or otherwise cruel and dishonest to get North will actually turn you around and while you will think you're following your compass North you will actually be headed in the exact opposite direction - South. My advice: Clarify your values, set your sights on North and determine what you need to accomplish to move in that direction.Feel free to hit reply and let me know your thoughts. Thanks,Nick Venturellawww.nickventurella.comwww.nickvmusic.netwww.growloop.comwww.tinycareer.com
