Time to Nurture Your Relationships

Summer is busily coming to an end.

My wife and are looking forward to the structure of the school year as the kids go back soon.

How often are you taking time out to step back and be grateful for the people and relationships in your life?

I think it’s easy to get into the hustle and bustle of the daily grind and take for granted those nearest and dearest in your life. I know I get in spurts of busyness where this occurs.

My wife recently called me out on this, and while I was a bit frustrated at first, it turned out to be one of the most meaningful two-way conversations we’ve had in the last couple of weeks, which in my opinion is just kind of sad. We should be having more meaningful conversations more regularly, and that’s what we’re working on now.

If you don’t address it, you can’t improve it.

The same thing can happen in your work/business life too. You get so wrapped up in the day to day tasks that you forget to step back periodically and address the overall strategy, and at the heart of most business strategies, regardless of the business you’re in, is people and relationships.

The audience you or your organization serves is the relationship that matters most. Without that audience you’re likely not in business, so it’s time well spent to address and foster a better relationship.

I’ve recently written a couple of blog posts related to this idea from a business and musician standpoint, feel free to check them out.

If you don’t apply any of this to your work or business this week, at least step back to nurture the relationships closest to you in your personal life.

Have a great weekend and week ahead!
