Independence Day
If you are in the United States, happy fourth of July.Just like the U.S. marked its independence this day all those years ago, so to do those of us with some sort of burning passion inside.I have always been an independent soul. Perhaps you feel the same way. It's not so much that I have an issue conforming as much as it is that I have a curiosity to ask questions like, "what if this?," or "what if that?"Those questions often put me outside of the status quo, which presents plenty of good opportunities, though it often brings a lot of negative criticism... At least until theories are proven out or ideas are successfully brought to fruition, but even then you still find haters. That's what I want to share with you today. You're always going to have heaters, and really for no other reason than because you're following your own path. When I say, "haters," I'm talking about those who like to provide you their negative feedback. These are the folks who don't fully understand, or can't see themselves in what it is you do. Other times it's the opposite, the haters do get what you're doing but can't seem to respect you for it. In this case they have fear about what you're doing for some reason or another. Their fear holds THEM back, but they often find a way to project their fear (often in the form of negative criticism) on you and what you're doing because that's easier than facing the fear themselves.Deep down those are the people, in my opinion, who actually admire what you're doing but their ego gets in their way so much that they become jealous of what you're doing because they're not doing it themselves.Again, it's some sort of fear that they have. Then they project their fear and anger toward you with negative criticism for what you're doing. Their silly thought process is that by putting you down it justifies their lack of action toward doing their own thing. The point is, when you come across people who want to negatively criticize you for following your passion or having a creative idea or jumping off to be an entrepreneur or any of those kinds of things that question aspects of the status quo, dig deep inside yourself for self-awareness and self confidence. You have to listen to that voice inside that tells you that you have to explore where this [insert idea, business, creative project] can go, and if you don't you will regret it. Do take calculated risks, but don't live your life with regrets.By relying on your self-confidence you can shed the negative energy that comes your way from others who don't understand what you're doing, or those who are simply jealous of what you're doing and projecting their fear on you.Again, one way to think about haters is to consider them admirers that won't admit that they admired you -- take the negative and turn it into something positive.I bring all of this up today because it's Independence Day. Our founding fathers in this country were looked at as alien, as outsiders, as those rocking the status quo. This country was built on people like us, so don't succumb to the haters when you hit a snag in your own independent progress.
Feel free to hit reply and tell me about your independent progress.
Have a great week!
