Good work
Work hard, but do work that you love, or work that continues to pique your curiosity, or at least work you can tolerate well enough to stay motivated to continue to do a good job regularly.
I get that we all spend a lot of our lives working, which is why I do think you need to, at the least, be able to tolerate what you do for work. Ideally, you actually like a good portion of the work you do, to the extent that it feeds an interest you have.
Anyway, the point is we spend far too much time working to just have it suck and totally drain us. I think there’s a reasonable balance that can be struck between what is necessary, like earning income, and how we want to spend our time earning that income.
If your work sucks, you need to find a new path. I know it’s not quite that easy to accomplish, but it is that easy from the standpoint of your mindset. In other words, if what you’re doing now is not cutting it for you, then it’s very simple to decide to shift your mindset, head a new course, and begin to take, at least small, actions that move you in that direction. It might take some time to really enjoy the fruits of your labor in changing course, but the decision to do so doesn’t have to be overly complicated. The execution of the plan is always the hard part, but also the most rewarding when you reach your goal.
The long story made short here is that you spend a lot of your life working, don’t settle for something that mentally kills you or crushes your soul. Make efforts, even small ones, to begin moving towards work that you can tolerate, then make a plan to get to work that energizes you – something you love well enough to stay motivated to engage in it every day.
There’s no point in getting to the end of your life and looking back thinking about how you hated most days because of that job that you convinced yourself was necessary and/or was your only real option to earn a decent income. That’s not true. YOU let it drain you instead of doing something about it. You CAN do something about it.
There are benefits to you finding work that fulfills your need for income and is tolerable or even enjoyable to do. You’ll feel less stress, you’ll be more at ease with doing the work every day, you’ll likely drink less alcohol or even stop stress eating so you’ll physically feel better, you’ll have more patience for yourself and those in your life whom you love. Dare I say it, you may find that you’re happier more often.Don’t wait to improve yourself, your work and your home life. Begin to take action to, slowly but surely, move in a direction that can lead to work you’re okay with doing every day.
