Limits expand you
Is it just me, or are you like this too?I am constantly thinking of ways to create, to make stuff, to express my creativity by imagining something and drawing, writing, or performing/recording music it into existence.Sometimes I get overwhelmed with where to start because there are so many things I want to create, but my available time to immerse myself in such free-flowing creativity is limited. That limited availability of time is probably, at least in part, why I’m constantly thinking of creative things. So maybe if my available time was unlimited, I wouldn’t be as creative? Enter: an “aha” moment!Constraints can expand one’s thinking. While this idea is not necessarily new -- in our current state of things where we’ve been feeling mentally, emotionally, and even physically confined in quarantine -- it’s useful, healthy even, to exercise creativity and innovation. For me, I’ve realized that the sense of accomplishment, in spite of constraints, makes me feel good – like I’ve overcome something that no one expected to be overcome. It’s energizing, and quite frankly a bit addictive. I think that's why I like do-it-yourself kinds of stuff and underdog stories. That self-recognition of wondering whether or not I could accomplish something and then proving to myself that I can, gives me confidence. That confidence is gained through those experiences having to trust myself that I have what it takes to enter the unknown and come out successful on the other side.An added bonus is when there are others who recognize and/or share in your achievement, however, that part is not as necessary as the self-confidence you gain. The pointTimes are tough right now. There are lots of limitations. However, you can get creative to make the most of this situation. In doing so, you’ll learn something about yourself and likely gain some self-confidence as you emerge on the other side of this pandemic a different person than when it started (even if only slightly different).I already know that if you have that kind of mindset you will be successful in the future regardless of what’s known or unknown about it.
Stay positive. Stay healthy. Be kind.Sincerely,Nick VenturellaCreative ProfessionalNickVenturella.comnickVmusic.netFacebookYouTubePatreon
