Learn to Choose the Fate of Your World

Words are powerful.Words can be critical. They can destroy someone's spirit and self worth to the point of being abusive. On the flip side, words have the power to lift people's spirits, affirm self worth and provide positive reinforcement. In other words (see what I did there? never mind), words can be used for good or evil.I was having an exchange with someone I respect the other day about the idea of good and evil. The question was, how can you know one without the other? We both agreed that you really can't know good without evil or vice versa. The fact that we are human and live on this earth means we all struggle to survive and thrive. We all inherently experience some level of good and evil within our lives. However, we all get to choose how we act or react to the good and evil we experience.Good and evil also seem to carry different weight. An example might be when your best friend does all sorts of good things that you admire and appreciate about him or her, and then they do one negative thing that seems to weigh far more than all the positive things. That negative act unfortunately makes it feel as though the positive things were canceled out by that one deed. You and I both know there are plenty of negative things in this world. Evil things that happen to good people. Things that can sometimes turn good people evil in part because they're scared or angry or sad or all of the above.Back to the words. Words are the fundamental building blocks of language and communication, which helps interactions with others.Because we use words daily and in so many applications it's easy to take their weight for granted. These days I'm doing my best to more carefully choose my words for the purpose of good, and to help others be positive with their words and their actions as well. It certainly doesn't mean I'm all good. I am fallible just like everyone else, but I am consciously choosing to work at it.A large part of the reason is because this life has many evil and negative things crashing into us all the time and it takes so many positive things to overcome one negative thing. That's why I'm interested in putting more positivity out into the world. When you think through your words and your actions to be more positive and others do too, there is power in numbers. If I do it and you do it and others you know begin to do it, soon we have a wave of positivity rippling across the universe. So here's the moral of the story: Don't take your words for granted. Used him as a vehicle for good, and be an example for others.
