Print a positive image from life's film negative

Happy Father’s day to my dad, and happy father’s day to all the dads out there.

Next, New Subscriber Shout Outs:  Thank you for being here Michael (66), and Sukalm!----------

Recently, my wife had this analogy about our current season in life…

Our current situation is like a still frame film negative in photography. Everything we want to see in the finished print image made from this film negative is in the composition, but because it’s a negative it's currently opposite of what we want to see -- the light areas are dark and the dark areas are light.

We’re investing in ourselves and others to strive for our most ideal life -- the positive of that piece of film, where our current dark areas are full of light.

Like Alice through the looking glass -- we’re currently in the craziness that is Wonderland in our hustle and bustle lives right now. We’re trapped in a world full of consumerism and empty status-seeking desire, none of which we really wanted or knowingly signed up for. It just sort of happened as a result of the cultural norms at the time we were raised.

However, we’re artists and creatives. People who want to connect with people in meaningful ways. We are looking through the mirror at our opposite view and slowly but surely taking action to allow us to transition through the looking glass.

We will print a vibrant, positive image from our film negative, but -- perhaps like you -- right now we’re in the process of learning how by soul-searching, researching, and planning to position the actions we take to align with a better tomorrow.

----------

As I write this -- My wife and I -- are getting the chance to get away on our own for a couple of days to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary, and the ideas above are a result of our always stimulating conversations. I’m always grateful when we’re able to step away and reconnect (even if we’re only 40 minutes from home). It just reminds me that marrying her was and is still the best decision I’ve ever made.
