Give before you get
How are you helping your target audience?
Good morning, I hope your weekend has been good so far.
It's easy to get bogged down with the necessity of making money from your business.
What I've found is that when you're only focused on
your
end result, which may be earning a living, you miss the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with your prospects and clients. Plus this mentality is self-serving, which does little to endear prospects and clients to you, so ignoring this actually can hurt your business.
Just like you, your prospects and clients want to know what’s in it for them when they connect and build a relationship with you. In this respect, you are always better off to ask yourself, "how does this benefit my target audience," before putting out any public-facing communications.
Give away what you want to receive
This idea goes back to the core element of good online business -- give before you get.
In other words, be a resource for your prospects and clients to help them get what they want or move them in a direction that helps them in their business. If you nurture your relationship in this way, when the time is right you will be in a position to ask for the sale and have the request be received favorably.
With that in mind I want to share a resource that may benefit you. It's a very quick marketing self-assessment that will offer you some insight to help your business.
Activity:Instructions:
Think about the following questions. The following questions are a bit rhetorical because I want you to only answer “yes,†or “no†to whether or not you feel like you can easily write 1 to 2 sentences that could answer the questions on behalf of your business.
1. How do you ensure your marketing activities align with your annual revenue objectives?
2. What problem does your business solve, for whom and how do you uniquely solve it over your competition?
3. What is your online method for attracting and capturing new email subscribers and converting them to buyers of your product or service?
Once you’ve decided whether or not you can answer these questions,
to help you think through these questions further.
Hit reply and let me know how you can apply some of this to your business.
Take care,
