The Illusion of Not Enough Time

There is an illusion of not having enough time to do the things that we want to do.
It's an illusion because the choices we make are the reasons we don't have enough time to do the things we want to do. I write this and share it because I myself need to be reminded of it.
I understand there are certain choices we truly need to make for the benefit of our lives and survival, and certainly if you have a family, certain related priorities and responsibilities take up time.
And those are not bad choices. In fact, those are appropriate choices. It's a good choice to spend time caring for your family over going out binge drinking, for example.
It's an appropriate choice to be a contributing member of society by going to work, paying taxes and providing a steady income for your family to care for your, and their, needs.
However, all these things take up time within your day. It's not that you don't necessarily have enough time to do certain activities that you want to do, but at the point in the day when you actually have the time to do them you may be tired and need to sleep to ensure you have the energy to get up, go to work and take care of all the other things that are needed for you and your family.
Then what happens is you end up in this cycle and you think about what you would rather be doing or what you would like to do when you get enough time to do it, but you're never able to get to the point where you actually spend time taking action doing what you want to do.
That ends up being what keeps people stuck.
It's a lot of hard work to break out of that cycle, but it is possible.
And it's possible without feeling like you are letting your family or your job or anyone else down by spending time doing something you want to do.
In fact, it's to your family's benefit to support you in helping you find the time to do what you want to do because if you are happier you are going to be a better member of your family. You are going to be a better worker at your job. You are going to feel energized and empowered enough to want to put forth the appropriate energy toward those other things in your life that you want to spend time doing, but more importantly, need to spend time doing.
To do this. To find extra time to do the things you want to do, and to find that time when you have enough energy to do and enjoy those activities you have to audit how you currently spend your time so you can identify opportunities to eek out time for what you want.
On my GrowLoop.com marketing services website I’ve created a Time Audit Worksheet for you to download for free to track what you do all day. Then once you’ve tracked your day’s activities you can make decisions about where you could rearrange your time or spend less time doing certain things so you can create more time to accomplish what you want. Time displacement is really the name of the game.
Good luck. If you’d like, hit reply and share your time audit discoveries with me. You are the gatekeeper to your own success!
Have a great week!
