Stay Energized

It’s seems a bit counter-intuitive, but lately I’ve been having inspired creative bursts since this pandemic started.I have a few theories about why this is happening, perhaps you can relate to some of them (hit reply and let me know)…

  • I always work from home, so I’m just as busy as I was prior to the pandemic, so I think on a subconscious level I know that I’m sheltering in place physically and mentally as well so my brain has kicked itself into an “occupy your mind” state, which has me constantly seeking input – books, shows, etc. perhaps as an escape and/or…

  • I’m seeking vast amounts of input to spark my creativity as a way to innovate, connect dots from my input and build solutions for my own mental self-preservation during a shelter in place mandate.

  • I’m finding that I also want to execute on all my creative ideas as they arrive, and I’m finding ways to carve out time to do so – 10 minutes here, 15 minutes there – this “finding time to execute” seems easier to do during this pandemic than in previous normal times, and if anything I’m busier with work (and family life with everyone at home) than I was previously. They say necessity is the mother of invention, perhaps that’s what’s happening here.

A common thread through all of this is that my energy level is staying relatively high. Upon further self-examination, I realized that when I consume more interesting input (books especially) I tend to get more inspired, which energizes my creative spirit, and my creative spirit energizes my motivation to take action on creative ideas, and as I execute creative ideas the process of creation and eventually the accomplishment of creating something new from my brain that didn’t exist previously energizes me further.

It’s a workflow that I’m now trying to break down further to reverse engineer for my own purposes with the hope that I can figure out the appropriate triggers to spark my own creative surge on a regular basis without the need for a pandemic.

What is helping you stay energized right now?

Or, if you can identify what is draining your energy maybe you can do the opposite to gain energy?

Feel free to hit reply and let me know.
