Stay Hopeful, Stay Motivated
One reason I tend to always have a side-hustle, or freelance business, outside of my full-time day-job is for diversity in additional income streams and to help accelerate money saving. The idea is that if I can earn additional income from the skills and interests I already have then the effort and motivation needed to start and sustain the side-hustle is more than doable. In other words, I’m re-purposing knowledge and capabilities I already have to earn additional income. In this way, I’m “stacking” income potential on top of skills, knowledge, equipment, etc. I already possess to minimize the learning curve, ramp up time needed, and effort required to earn additional income.I’m certainly not here to say I have this all figured out because one of my “hustles” is performing music live and with the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve already lost all of my scheduled performances for this year and the revenue tied to those. But not to fear…I have the foundation of a digital business infrastructure in place to tweak and get working on my behalf to help earn additional income regardless if my live music performance business is in a downturn.I’m sharing this with you because many are losing their jobs right now, and are looking for ways to bring in additional income even if only to bridge a gap between now and whatever the next move may be.Are you looking to set up a website, start an email list, and essentially begin building an online business to help yourself now and in the future? If yes, reply and let me know if you’d like me to develop some tutorial information to help you work towards setting up your own online business infrastructure.Let me know your questions related to this idea. I’m trying to think of how I can help you and make such information available for free to you – my exclusive email list subscribers.Beyond that people need resources right now, so I’m trying to provide what I’m aware of:
The salary negotiation service, Candor, has an ongoing live updated list of companies across the nation that are freezing hiring, laying off roles, and/or still hiring during these unusual times. It might be useful for anyone trying to see who is still hiring. https://candor.co/hiring-freezes/. You can also check out Remote.com.
My fellow musician friends who have lost performance revenue, here’s a post from Eleven Music Career Center of some ideas to consider to earn income in tough times.
Here’s a blog post and free ebook resource I wrote on my GrowLoop website to help you set some goals to have something specific to focus on during this time. Plus, documenting your progress in a journal has stress-relieving, mental, and immune, health benefits. I realize this may not be for everyone. If you need to relax and just “be” right now because that’s how you process, I get it and there’s no judgement.
If you think it’s time for you to start your own business, check out Pat Flynn’s Smart Passive Income website. He’s been an online successful entrepreneur for years, and just a genuinely nice and helpful person. He has several online paid courses available, but for a limited amount of time while this COVID-19 thing is going on he’s offering his Smart from Scratch course for free (normally $250). It might be worth checking out.
If you currently run a business and are worried about retaining customers, look to partner with your customers to help them as much as you can as a longer term (beyond COVID-19) business success strategy. Here’s a post I wrote on that.
Need to make yourself a face mask? Here’s a YouTube video I found with fairly simply ideas for face masks that don’t involve sewing anything as well as how to sew one.
Need some free entertainment? There are plenty of things to watch on Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime as well as live streamed music performances. Here's one of mine, if you're interested.
Stay hopeful. Stay motivated, and have a great weekend ahead!Sincerely,Nick VenturellaCreative ProfessionalNickVenturella.comNickVmusic.netGrowLoop.comTurnUpToEleven.com
