Build a Legacy of Positive Impact
This past week has felt like a series of tests from above.
This newsletter may be a bit heavy, but I’ll do my best to provide a useful positivity to why I’m sharing this…hang in there with me.
A friend of our family passed away this week at age 33 after an 18 month battle with cancer.
He left behind his wife (his high school sweetheart) and two young children.
This was a good man, with a great heart and an intense spiritual faith that led to positive intentions and actions.
When anyone you know passes it makes us question a lot of things in this life.
However, I find it to be constructive to learn from that person's life and apply that insight toward my own positive improvement to keep their memory and carry out their legacy.
But what exactly are you supposed to learn, and how are you supposed to apply it to your life, and what about grieving?
These are the questions that immediately came to my mind.
Yes you will grieve. That grief will hit you whenever it's going to hit you. That could be immediately, or after a few weeks, months, even years. This is normal, but when you recognize it coming on it's a good idea to surround yourself with positive and supportive people that can help to simply be there through the roller coaster of emotions.
What do you learn from others in a situation like this? Well, one thing is that this human life we live is finite, and we never really know exactly how much time we have. That makes me want to live with more urgency and intention.
I find that when hearing about the life of someone who has passed, I learn to take a moment, often quite a bit more than a moment, to reflect on how I’m living my life.
I listen to the summary of good things our dearly departed experienced and shared, which positively impacted others they cared about and those they didn’t even know, and I think about whether or not I’m doing anything similarly positive in my own life - not to compare, but to reflect.
I then wonder…could I be doing something more that aligns with my talents and abilities to similarly share with, and make a positive impact on, the world…at least my immediate world? The answer is always, YES.
So, then I think about how to apply it. This newsletter, which is personally cathartic for me, is primarily an attempt to make a positive impact on you. The goal is to help you understand that you’re not alone in your life’s journey (we share the same human condition), and the more you learn about yourself the more you can utilize your strengths to positively impact your world.
If you positively impact your world, I guarantee it will have a ripple effect and positively impact others’ worlds beyond your comprehension.
Thank you for your attention. I hope you have a lovely week. I will be spending some needed quality time with my family on a little spring break trip. What will you be up to?

On a lighter note, I will be doing my best to make a positive impact on others with my music. I have some newly booked performances beginning in May. Check out my music calendar for more details and to commit them to your calendar. I’d love to see you there.
