Following up is the secret sauce
How many times do you get an email marketing blast in your inbox that actually interests you?
Really? That few? I guess, I’m biased because I’m a marketer so I like to see others’ strategies…I digress…
Okay, so maybe you don’t receive too not many that interest you, but there are likely one or two periodically, especially if they’re from sources you trust.
Does this ever happen to you…
You get one of those emails that
does
resonate with you, the sender is promoting a product or service you may actually want/need, but then you get busy with life and forget to circle back to re-read the email…sound familiar?
What would you expect to happen beyond that?
If you said, “nothing,†you would have described 80% of marketers who send out email blasts…or direct mail…or those who leave one voicemail message/sales call.
You would think the sender would follow up with you somehow knowing that it often takes more than one message to reach an interested party.
But all too often they don’t.
You may have guessed it, but the 20% of marketers who do follow up on their marketing efforts reap all the rewards of the most success, simply because they don’t have a one-and-done approach to their marketing.
This likely all sounds basic, but what did you do for your last follow up effort to your marketing email blast? Did you execute thoroughly?
If you did, you’re at an advantage over the majority and you will likely have success if you keep at it.
If not, why not? What’s holding you back?
Do you lack time, resources, both? When there’s a will, there’s a way.
If you don’t have time, at least utilize your email marketing software’s auto-responder capabilities to follow up more than once with prospects.
If you have more money than time, hire a virtual assistant to help provide personal follow up.
Once you experiment a bit and learn what works for your audience and you, you will gain a better return on your marketing campaign investments.
