A New Year Means New Opportunity

I hope you are enjoying your holiday season. If you’re at all like many others, myself included, perhaps you’ve taken a little time off to spend it with friends and/or family. If so, be sure to cherish those times. Be present in those moments. You never know when you’ll get more moments. I’m not trying to sound ominous, but more so grateful for the time we have with people we care about. The holidays always seem a bit chaotic. You’re rushing around trying to coordinate visits and finding the perfect gift for each person’s personality. It’s all with good intentions, but it can make ourselves anxious, and in some cases, leave us too exhausted to enjoy the time we have with people who we don’t see that often, and that makes the whole experience seem far less than what it should be.My hope is that even if the above describes your holiday experience, you can read this newsletter and have it remind you to take a breath, close your eyes for 2 minutes and just let go of everything so you can be here, in this moment, right now, without any expectation other than to be open to whatever comes your way. It’s not easy to slow down in the midst of busyness, but sometimes that’s the best approach. To the extent you can, try to slow yourself down the rest of this week as we transition into a new year. The transition to a new year, for me, is always a great time for reflection with the intent to learn and grow from the past to plot goals and a plan for a better future. (Plus, Dec. 27th is my birthday, so being another year older tends to make me think about my life’s pursuits as well). So, I encourage you to get high-level with yourself this week and think about all the positive things you accomplished for yourself and others in 2017. If you’re so inclined write them down. It’s one thing to think about your past year’s accomplishments, but it’s another to actually look at a list of them written out – it’s powerful and it may surprise you that you actually achieved all those things. Then begin to think about (if you haven’t already) what you hope 2018 will look like for yourself, your family, your pursuits, your career…for any of the major aspects of your life that you care to progress forward and grow further in a positive way. A new year is always a new opportunity for great things to happen. If you care to, I would love to know what you’re up to this week, how you’re (hopefully) relaxing, what you want to pursue in 2018, or whatever is on your mind. Hit reply and let me know.I’m grateful for your time and attention, and for another year on this journey with you.
