Reflect to Pursue
12/15/24
--------------------------------------------------Mindset--------------------
The end of this calendar year is fast approaching. Be sure to finish strong.
What did you plan to accomplish in 2024? Did you do it? How will you leverage what you learned in 2024 to accomplish what you want in 2025?
Reflect on this year (2024): Did you set a heading for yourself of where you wanted to end up by this time of the year? Sometimes having a general direction is all you need vs. having a specific destination in mind. Did you move in the direction you were aiming this year? Did you get to a particular destination (if you had one in mind), or at least near it?
In 2024 for me, I wanted to shake off the less-than-desirable employment experience I had throughout most of 2023. That experience shook my confidence in my knowledge, experience and abilities. It was a lot of work (ongoing, really), but I’m definitely in a better mindset now, and I realize I am reasonably good at what I do. I learned more about myself and what I want in a work environment, and I can tell you that working with collaborative, supportive people in the right environment makes all the difference.
What did you learn about yourself this year? (hit reply and let me know).
How will what you learned this year inform how you approach what you want for next year?
For me, 2024 was a time to get through previous work turmoil – to find a soft landing with enough breathing room, and a supportive team to rebuild, and allow my work to provide some outsized value for my employer. However, that work was a year+ contract role, so I’ll take all I’ve learned and use that to help inform my next role in 2025.
In 2024 I also began discovering more about what I want my personal brand to focus on, at least for now. That led to creating the Mindset, Marketing, and Music format of this newsletter and my other online presences.
In 2025, I want to grow what I’ve been building here on the side with my personal brand and this newsletter, which has been an authentically positive bridge between what I do in my full-time employment and what I love to pursue outside of day-to-day work.
That said, I plan to evolve my newsletter next year with a new newsletter platform. The new platform will give you an enhanced newsletter experience in your inbox, but also allow you easy access to it on the web beyond your inbox. This will make it easier to catch up whenever and wherever it makes sense for you. I’m also wanting to introduce some new programs into what I provide you, and even try to facilitate more opportunities for you to connect with others who subscribe to this newsletter – I think many of you would hit it off together, and benefit from an expanded network.
So, I hope you and your loved ones enjoy the holidays, and have a safe and happy new year. Reflect on all the learnings of 2024 and pursue the opportunities 2025 has to offer.
