Keep Calm and Finish Strong
How are you focusing your energy through the end of the year?
The year is almost over. Did you accomplish all you wanted to this year in your life and business? If you’re like me, you may not have gotten to everything that was on your 2014 ‘to do’ list.
However, at this time of year I not only start next year’s planning, but I review what I didn’t accomplish and I prioritize what things on that list I can still affect in a short amount of time before the end of the current year.
In other words, I ensure that I’m pushing hard through the end of the year to have a strong finish, which I’ve found actually helps set a positive precedent for the start of the new year.
It can be tough to motivate yourself to finish strong when we’re so close to the end of the year and all you may want to do is relax. You absolutely should build in some time to relax and spend time with family, I’m simply suggesting you will enjoy that time more knowing that leading up to it you gave your business and pursuits all you had -- no getting lazy and just going through the motions...success isn’t generated that way.
So, what can you do to finish the year strong?
Do you need a few extra bucks to help meet your financial goals? Have you thought about joining Fiverr.com to set up a quick service that can begin generating $5 per gig, quickly? It doesn’t sound like a lot but it adds up quickly.
Perhaps, you need to ensure you get in touch with a few key contacts, prospects, partners or clients so when the new year hits you can hit the ground running vs. reaching out at that time delaying your start.
Maybe you need to simply create some head space to work on your business vs. in your business.
I think this time of year presents a unique opportunity to focus in with high energy. I tend to feed off of the energy of the holiday season. It puts me in a good and creative mood, which I’ve talked about before, and over the years I’ve learned to harness that energy to push hard, finish the year strong and start the new one off well with a lot of momentum and motivation.
Have you ever been to an IronMan race, or even a 5k run? Or maybe you’ve participated in one of those races?
Near the end of the route there are a ton of people cheering you on from the sidelines. If you’re running the race it doesn’t matter whether you’re the first person to finish or the last person to cross the finish line, they know it’s a feat to simply finish strong. They want to support all the effort you’ve already put in up to that point in the race at which point it’s more important to push toward finishing rather than worrying about exactly what place you end up finishing.
There will be plenty of time after the race to analyze and evaluate your performance -- what you need to work on to finish faster or to be more physically prepared for the pounding your body takes throughout the race.
How are you staying motivated to finish the year strong? Hit reply and let me know. I’ll be on the sidelines cheering you on to help you stay motivated. Trust me, it’s helpful to know you’re not alone, especially when you’re trying to finish strong.
You’re doing great. Keep calm and finish strong!
