How to Find Balance In Life
I recently had a text conversation with my college-aged niece. She’s learning the life juggle of time, money, obligations and investments. In other words, it’s that transition from high school into more adulthood, which provides more independence, but with that independence, more responsibility. Balance is the word that comes to mind. In that young adult stage in life my niece is having to learn to balance going to school (which is an obligation and an investment in her future), her available time to attend school, work part-time, study and have some sort of social life. Not to mention the income and expenses necessary to live. It’s tough to find the right balance, the right daily rhythm, and when you do find it, it tends to evolve and change on you. For a young adult who is fairly new to this level of balancing, it can feel like a steep learning curve. But here’s the thing, over time you start to recognize that certain types of time commitments, obligations, money (incoming or outgoing) and investments in yourself and others have patterns that emerge if you’re paying attention to them. And understanding those patterns can allow you to adapt to anything. What can you learn about yourself, about others, about how you feel, or about how to resolve issues by examining those patterns? And what if you marry up that information with where you ideally would like to go in your life, in your profession in your relationships? …Well, you’d have the semblence of a road map…knowledge about yourself, what you like, don’t like; your strengths and weaknesses, which provide context to you about what personal tools you have at your disposal to work towards your ideal vision for your life. I told my niece that college was extremely important to me because at that time in my life, I learned through my college experience how to learn. In other words, how to be a life-long learner as an adult on my own. It taught me how to be resourceful and figure out how to make things work out when it doesn't seem like things can work out. Essentially that collective college experience was the self-discovery and beginnings of my adult life road map that has become a foundation from which I can build, adapt and rebuild my life’s pursuits over and over...THAT is the most important skill I took away from my personal, professional, relational and financial investment in college, and that was worth every penny in my opinion. The point is, regardless of what stage of life you’re in, you are your greatest vehicle toward success, positivity and the life you want to lead, but you have to pay attention to yourself, to the patterns, while keeping an eye on your ideals to balance it all as you navigate the world. One proven way to start examining yourself and building your life’s road map is to create a daily journaling habit. Yes, there’s a small pitch here, but it’s relevant to the info above… On Black Friday recently, I officially launched my Provision Journal to this email list only at a discount. Now, it’s available to the public, yet I’ve decided to keep it at a discount. The Provision Journaling System is designed to help you achieve your goals, increase your positive energy and track it all (so you can balance better by identifying the patterns). If you know someone in your life who you think could benefit from the Provision Journal, I encourage you to order one for them.I am extremely grateful for our connection and correspondence.
