Lately, I’ve been feeling like I’m an outside observer of my life as it’s happening, but in a good way. Like, I’m participating in my life, but also seeing myself participate in it from a third-party perspective.Does that sound crazy?Maybe it is. Maybe I am.Regardless, lately I’ve been successfully operating with a detached mindset than previously. Also, I’m trying to consciously engage in not only activities I have to do, but those I want to do that I know positively affect my mood…Anyone with a multiplicity of obligations and responsibilities in day to day life (spouse, kids, work, extended family, friends, etc.) understands how difficult getting into the right mindset can be.I’m sharing this because I’m grateful for this small victory as of late. It’s important to briefly acknowledge and celebrate those victories. Plus, such gratitude is timely with Thanksgiving being tomorrow.I know it’s not always easy, but in family, work, life, being present and being detached from too many expectations will help you enjoy the current moment with more clarity. I think that’s when you find out exactly what’s important to you, and how best to operate in any situation.And knowing yourself (what you like, don’t like, what energizes you, drains you, what feeds your spirit) is 80% of being contented enough to sustain positivity – not necessarily happiness, that’s a fleeting phenomenon – but sustained, contented positivity for yourself and your interactions with others around you.I’m truly grateful for our time together!
