Being Entrepreneurial in All You Do

Everyone can benefit from an entrepreneurial approach in business and life.  I’m a big advocate of this idea.

Whether or not you are an actual entrepreneur -- running your own business or side business -- or you're an employee in a company, having an entrepreneurial mindset and spirit can help you uniquely navigate your personal/professional life.

To me, being entrepreneurial means taking ownership over whatever you want to pursue or whatever you may be tasked with, like in your current employment.

Regardless of working for yourself or someone else, the idea is that you are going to own whatever it is you do and pursue.  In doing so you hold yourself accountable to putting forth your best effort to meet the objectives of what you're pursuing or what your job/position requires of you.

The reason I think this is vital is because all too often people tend to wait for success to find them, or they have a notion of, “if I can just do XYZ success will come,†and they tend to wait for quite a while.

I know because I’ve spent my fair share of time and energy in that kind of thinking. Maybe others have had different results with that approach, but I know when I’ve had such a mindset I wasn’t taking full ownership over my pursuits. I was in effect saying that success is something external beyond me.

Success is more internal than external, I think. Do you agree? 

However, where that internal success meets with external success (however you define that) is when you own your pursuit and realize a positive level of accomplishment as a result of taking action toward your goals.

In other words, when you have an idea or concept in mind and realize that concept to the fullest potential of your vision...

...large or small, that’s taking ownership, that’s being entrepreneurial, that’s success.
