Don't Fear Success

Do you ever feel like you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop?
You know, things are going well, but you feel like it’s too good to be true and something negative is bound to happen.
Then, sometimes, perhaps too often, when that insecure feeling arises, your own lack of self-confidence turns into self-sabotage.
Finally, the other shoe does drop in your self-fulfilling prophecy.
I think this is borne out of a fear of success. There is so much in life that can be hard, difficult, or downright ugly, and because there are no shortages of hard things occurring in each of our lives we allow a fixed, or negative mindset, to creep in and remind us that, “we’re only comfortable in the negativity or the struggle of life...we’re not deserving of anything more.”
(Now, I’m not talking about entitlement...no one owes you anything in this life, but you owe it to yourself to capitalize on your own personal growth wins.)
That fixed mindset is disappointing to me because there are tons of great things in life to enjoy, experience, and even celebrate. I get how it happens. It happens to me too. When some level of success begins to take place it feels good, maybe too good, and even unnatural. So then we question the success instead of embracing it.
Perhaps you’ve heard the saying that success breeds success, meaning that as you experience wins in life -- if you can keep grounded, positive, good hearted, and productive -- you can achieve more wins in life (aka success, however you decide to define success).
Because you may spend a good portion of time struggling and hustling in a way that doesn’t seem to give you traction in any positive direction, when you do gain some positive traction, don’t fear it, but embrace it.
Embracing it begins to put you into a growth mindset that is more proactive in finding solutions that perpetuate more success vs. a fixed mindset that holds you back by making you feel you’re not competent, worthy, or skilled enough to have success.
