Your Competitive Advantage

How do you go about continuing your education?  How do you better yourself as a professional?  What's your process? Here's mine:I read a lot -- books and magazines on business, marketing, music, the arts. I consume a lot of information from websites, blog posts and email newsletters.  I also consume several online video shows and podcasts.Consuming all that information helps inspire me. When I get inspired by such information I begin to formulate my own innovative ideas about new projects or initiatives I'd like to try in my business or at my full-time job. Then I start "doing." I begin to take action on the new projects and initiatives I've created. That's where the learning gets accelerated -- theorized ideas meet with practical application, and the two don't always sync together harmoniously. However, that's where I tend to discover what works and what doesn't toward the success of the project. This learning cycle is spinning everyday for me. I never really thought about it before, but it's extremely useful....and don't get me wrong, not everything I try is easy and successful. In fact, most of it is fraught with fits and starts. I have journals and notebooks filled with discarded ideas that just didn't get off the ground, but did I learn something?  You bet. Tons, actually. You see, from consuming information, getting inspired, creating projects to taking action on those projects and adjusting and adapting to what is working and not, all lends itself to more active experience being obtained.  Active experience, however you go about creating it for yourself, is the best learning development tool one has. I would go as far as to say it is the best competitive advantage one has.Hit reply and tell me how you're keeping ahead of the learning curve.---------------SALEI also want to remind you that today kicks off my Halloween Sale.  I have several of my marketing-related ebooks and full-length music albums available at the spooky low price of $6.66.The sale is exclusive to you this week before it opens up to the general public next Sunday because you're on my email list. Sale ends on Oct. 31,2014 at midnight.
