Cheers to the new year.

Happy holidays and new year to you and yours.

I feel like a lot of holiday busyness has occurred in a short amount of time, how about you?

You may be feeling like you need a break from the holiday rush, or perhaps the fresh start of the new year is just what you need.

Sometimes when you’ve dealt with a hard year, or things aren’t currently moving in the direction you’d prefer, it can be tough to have an optimistic outlook on the pending new year.

However, I suggest clearing your mind for the possibility that this next year could be the best one in a long time.

I suggest this because it’s easy to find the negative aspects of what went wrong last year, and believe the new year will be more of the same or worse, but what if it’s not? What if next year could be amazing!

In order to help things along toward next year being better than this year we have to shift our mindset toward the positive.

Now, just thinking positively doesn’t make your life magically better, but it does better align you to the possibility that things can be better, and as a result you may find yourself more open to various, seemingly, unexpected opportunities that could lead to amazing things.

Opening the door to that kind of possibility, at least for me, is worth working on my own attitude now.

How do you change your mindset to allow positive possibilities to show up?

Start with gratitude for the good things in your life right now — no matter how big or small. I encourage you to write them down. Identifying things you’re grateful for instantly flips a switch in your brain from negativity to positivity.

Then, after writing a short list of what you’re grateful for, listen to some of your favorite music from a previously happy and/or positively impressionable time in your life — there are major mental health benefits to engaging in nostalgia (affiliate).  Then after that, write down one or two things you want to achieve today, or this week.

The whole process should take 10 to 20 minutes. Do this regularly throughout the week or month and see how your attitude changes, how much you’re getting done, how much better you feel.

Cheers to a better new year.

Updates about this newsletter…

If all goes as planned, this will be the last newsletter I send from this newsletter platform, which I’ve been using for years. I’m moving my newsletter to a new software platform. However, you do not need to take any action. Once all is said and done, you’ll just see the next newsletter with its new appearance in your inbox just as you normally would.

The next newsletter to publish in January will have a new look and feel. You can even get a sneak peek, here, which includes all my past newsletters archived and easily available for you to revisit anytime you’d like.

Why the change?

The new platform offers some better tools that will allow me, and you, to make the newsletter available to more people. The content format will remain consistent leading with Mindset, but it will allow me the ability to bring more value to you, like additional content recommendations because you like my newsletter, as well as an opportunity to help you connect more directly with other subscribers to expand your own network with your like minded fellow Investors.

Thank you for being here and continuing to read my newsletter. I appreciate you, and hope you continue to invest in yourself and others by coming along for this next iteration of the Investors newsletter.

The next Songwriters Round Town event is on Thurs. Jan. 16, 2024 at the Imaginary Tea shop in Waunakee, WI. 7-9pm.  (Sorry December's SRT got canceled - I had a sick kid at home that night).

There’s no cover charge, or cover songs. This is all about a curated group of invited songwriters getting together and sharing what they’re working on, the songs they’ve written they love the best, and their passion for the craft of songwriting.
