I’ve said it before: what got us here won’t get us to where we’re headed next.
It’s been time to change things up for a little while now. At least that’s how I had been feeling over the last few years. Now, I’m finally doing something to alter my direction a bit.
The previous iteration of this newsletter, The Investors Club, was a metaphor for gaining a return on your investment in your own self-awareness and self-improvement efforts.
That’s still completely valid, but I’m personally at a point where I’m feeling confident that I know myself pretty well. I’m still always trying to improve (and want to continue to encourage you too as well), but I’m self-aware about who I am, what I value, and what I want to focus on in my life – at least for now (these things tend to evolve).
That said, right now, I’m pursuing my ambitions in a more methodical and pragmatic way than I have before. I’m a storyteller, artist, and maker in all aspects of my life, and I strive to balance it all with empathy, values, and love (that’s not really a change from before, just more of an affirmation). When things are in balance, it’s amazing, when I’m out of balance I’m self-aware enough to know and examine it to eventually course-correct.
But that journey, those ups and downs, is where the stories of our lives are written, and for me it’s where a lot of my songwriting comes from.
Now, I want to share the stories Between Songs.
Between Songs
At a live music performance, the stories an artist tells between songs are the raw vignettes of life, love, loss, and triumph that inspired the music.
Between Songs is a newsletter that serves that exact same purpose. It’s a space for context, present-moment insights, and honest conversations about creativity, craft, work, and life.
Like great music, the goal here is to connect through storytelling. It’s about identifying those shared experiences that resonate in your own life — whether in your creative pursuits, your day job, or your family life to balance it all without feeling like you're doing it alone.
Moving forward, I’ll be sharing the "stories between my life’s songs" to help inspire you and deepen our connection. We’ll dive into:
Behind the Scenes: Updates on my own music, upcoming shows, and the guitars I'm designing and building.
The Creative Craft: Thoughts on pursuing creativity intentionally while raising a family and holding down a day job.
Tools for the Journey: Practical tips, tricks, and book or product recommendations that have genuinely served me well.
